I'm involved directly so I need some comments.
An UFA player has a bid thread started on a Saturday. There are no other bids. The 48 hours ends on Monday. Bidding is done. The player is not signed in the 5 day period. So on Saturday he is by rules considered abandoned. The Commish does not do the sign and post the waive until after Sunday midnite, which is a new week. The new week has new standings and therefore waiver priority has changed.
Does our inseason waiver priority apply with the week when he became abandoned or the week in which the Commish posts the waive?
This is how I would rule and why:
Waiver priority should be governed by the moment the 5 days to sign were up. In this case Saturday.
Why: The Commish should not be able to affect the appropriate week by slow or fast posting an abandonment waive. If the 5 day period ended late on a Sunday, the Commish might not get to the waive until Monday, changing waiver priority. Waiver priority in this type of case should be set in stone (end of 5 days), free from being able to be manipulated or affected by the time the Commish posts the waive.
