2 first - I am ok with a limit - but what about those entering 2012 with players already on that waived list
(eg Rockies' Scott Kazmir was to be 41st or 42nd player. WIth roster sizes capped at 40, he's destined to become permanently waived throughout 2012)
Some allowance would be appreciated, say the limit plus the bums leftover from pre 2012?
1. There are 2 legitimate reasons to waive a UFA just signed: -You sign the guy then execute a trade that forces you to drop a player. - A hot prospect is bid on during the season by more than 1 team and partway during the bidding process he suffers a season ending injury.
What about i) subject to appeal to commish/league? ii) during the 3 days after he is signed (or deemed signed), cannot bid on any other UFA's (but can sign a previously waived player. If Rockies just sign a SS who cannot play, and they waived a SS to be able to make the bid, they could re-sign the old SS, waive the just signed SS to make room) iii) can only waive as a result of bona fide trade or injury iv) a combination of ii and iii
