Here is what I will finish this with. I cannot in anyway complain about the level of commitment and care owners have for this league. It’s very encouraging moving forward. Feel we have a great group to compete with.
In regards to these spots being added. We discussed this thoroughly during winter meetings. I felt we came to some solid conclusions on the validity of adding the spots. We had different reasons but the consensus seemed to be that we liked the idea of adding spots. Wasn’t a new idea as it was implemented before.
I again was ready to shelve the idea for the year. I completely empathize with those who feel timing is wrong. Maybe. Maybe not.
However one day I just decided to put to a vote see what everyone wanted to do. Anticipating the measure to struggle to get passed in regards to timing. I figured would wait to another time. However the league spoke loud and clear they endorsed the idea of adding the spots now.
We could go back and forth and wait and not wait. But here’s what I’ll say. Let my ideas run their course. I promise I want the best for this league and feel we can increase activity of owners and buy in from year the year. And most importantly parity and FUN!!
I received resistance on the Option year. But we gave it a shot. If I told you within two years of adopting the option rule that these players would be available to everyone as UFA would we have likened the idea better? Arenado, Jansen, Lindor, Cole, Kershaw, Scherzer, Correa, Bryant, Martinez...I still find it hard to fathom this worked as I envisioned this fast but it has.
I know sometimes I work in mysterious ways but give me a shot. Promise I have best interest in the league in mind...always.
Keep the fire going fellas...luv it have not even started the year and the juices are flowing...
